Raymond R. Connell graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory School in 1956 and graduated from Providence College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1961. In 1965, he graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar. Mr. Connell was a clerk with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a Claims Representative for New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company, and an Assistant Essex County Prosecutor. He is a member of the American Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association, and New Jersey Defense Association.

Mr. Connell holds the rank of Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been chairman of the Bench Bar Committee of the Essex County Bar Association since 1990. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by New Jersey Monthly Magazine. In 1982, he was certified as a Civil Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
